Scope of the study

Geographical scope

The study was carried out in kaor of layyah district. Layyah  Municipality is mainly divided in three divisions which are karor,layyah and chobara.

Content scope

The study considered  the following content scope; to identify various impacts on corporal punishment on student’s academic performance in secondary schools in karor  Municipality; to identify the alternatives to corporal punishment of secondary school students and to analyze how the administration of punishments by head teachers affect students‟ academic performance.

Time scope

The study was  intended  to cover information in relation of five (5) years that is 2015 to 2019 on to assess the impact of corporal punishment on student’s academic performance in secondary schools in karor Municipality.

Purpose of the study

The purpose of the study was to establish the impact of corporal punishment on student’s academic performance in secondary schools in layyah .

Significance of the study

The findings of the study are expected to be beneficial to school head teachers, policy makers in the Ministry of Education and Sports, parents and other stakeholders in pakistan Secondly the study findings may be helpful to the Government of Pakistan in solving the escalating problems of indiscipline that are widely spread in most schools.

Thirdly the study has helped to provide a guide to head teachers not only in karor Municipality on how to manage school rules and regulations, but also in other schools in the whole country at large and has also provided preventive measures against indiscipline.

Distinction of The Study

Present research work is distinctive from previous works.  This research workv distinguishes from  containing 42 schools that is 8 secondary school male and 6 female schools and 13 middle male and  15 female school are also included for research in regard of corporal punishment and its effects on students. Many works have been done on corporal punishment but no single work has been done on corporal punishment and its effects on student’s performance in Tehsil karor  District Layyah . The current research work is also distinctive from this sense that there will be made comparison between the opinion of male and female participants. No other research  work  contains  this  distinctive  aspect  which  is  followed  by  the present research work. Therefore, in this ways the recent research work contains distinction from previous works and fulfils the gap existing between the previous and present research work. So, ultimately it can be said that the current study is more explorative, analytical and beneficial in  order to judge the impacts of corporal punishment.

 

OBJECTIVES

 To identify and record various impacts of corporal punishment on students‟ academic performance/career

 To explore various psychological impacts of corporal punishment on students‟ personality development.

1) To identify various impacts on corporal punishment on student’s academic performance in secondary schools in karor Municipality.

2) To identify the alternatives to corporal punishment of secondary school students.

3) To analyze how the administration of punishments by head teachers affect students‟ academic performance.

 

HYPOTHESIS

 H1: There is no significant relationship between corporal punishment and students’ academic performance.

H2: There is no significant relationship between corporal punishment and students’ learning behaviour in secondary schools.

H3: There is no significant difference in the effect of corporal punishment on male and female students.

1) What are the various impacts on corporal punishment on student’s academic performance in secondary schools in KAROR  Municipality?

2) What are the alternatives to corporal punishment of secondary school students?

3) How does the administration of punishments by head teachers affect students‟ academic performance?
